Position Sought
A fast-paced position in technology that lets me exercise my knowledge and use it to maximum potential.
Education
2001-2003 University of Massachusetts, Lowell MA. Majored in Computer Science
1997-2001 St. John's Preparatory High School. High School Diploma
Work Experience
2004-Present
Airvana Networks Inc., Chelmsford MA
At Airvana, I was responsible for maintaining several key software components on their RNC platform. A vxWorks based software package, I used my knowledge of design and problem solving to enable Airvana's products to have added stability and reliability while increasing their functionality. At Airvama, I worked on the Packet Control Function, and the A13 interfaces, providing re-implementation of the A10/A11 protocols for the Packet Control Function, and rewriting the A13 code to be more robust.
2002-2004
BL Software Systems, Franklin MA
At BL Software Systems, I was responsible for designing and implementing an embedded medical system that is used by inner city children suffering from asthma. My work was with an embedded linux machine using an MPC-860. I wrote several key device drivers, including a remote control driver that interfaced the visual TV display with an RF remote. I was also responsible for the design and implementation of security transport using OpenSSL and video conferencing capabilities using the H.264 ITU/MPEG standard. I also instuted a new network infrastructure that allowed the development team to rapidly develop software using version control, and standard coding/engineering practices. I also implemented a linux/windows based network that allowed for roaming profiles between machines, as well as weekly scheduled backups, and proper network zones (public, private, VPN).
2001-2003
ComponenTree, Haverhill MA
At ComponenTree, I fabricated a new engineering process, still in use by the core development team. I worked with J2EE technologies to write integral parts of the ComponenTree J2EE components, including a JavaMail interface that allowed their staff to easily and quickly integrate email applications into the system. I also wrote many servlet-like components for their client DeWolfe (now Coldwell Banker). At ComponenTree, I helped partially migrate the network to linux, and tested linux based solutions for the development team.
2001-2002
Nelson & Watson Associates, Inc. Haverhill MA
As a consultant, I worked for Nelson & Watson developing a robust network that was flexible and expandable, while still being able to provide a multi-tiered setup with properly abstracted network zones. I implemented a complete firewall solution using linux based PCs and inplemented a VPN system, still in use to this day. In the one year of my consulting position 2 break-ins were observed. One, from an outsider who was able to guess a privledged account password, and the other from an internal employee. Due to the way the system was implemented, no sensitive data was compromised, and the network was in a fully restored state after a few minutes.
2000-2002
Apple Business Furniture, Andover MA
As a consultant, I worked building an intranet for Apple Business Furniture that allowed the small company to create invoices using their computer systems, and transparently access each other's database of clientelle, while still maintaining security and ease of use. Before this, they were using pen and paper solutions to their invoicing and purchase order writing. I maintained and administered their entire network and in the 2 years I worked for them, only one break-in ever occurred, and did not result in any sensitive data being compromised.
1999-2003
ARC Solutions, Dracut MA
I co-founded and managed ARC Solutions, a computer security company providing linux based firewall and network security solutions. At ARC Solutions, I designed a versatile system of patches and hooks which allowed the computer to allow certain types of traffic as “trusted” and would allow a login from “trusted” machines and drop any non-trusted traffic. As another part of the patches I made to the linux kernel, no root logins were ever allowed. The way around this was through a hidden device which was exposed to users who were part of the trusted groups.
